Owners Scott P. Colby and Heather M. Hull-Colby have over 40 years experience in training Standardbred trotters and showing sport horses in a variety of disciplines including hunters, dressage, eventing and fox hunting. They have also run a very successful hayride business for over 20 years.
About The Owners
Scott raised and raced some of the best Standardbred trotters in the country, including his famous stallion Buttonwood Odin, who still holds a track record. Scott raced his Standardbreds at Yonkers, Roosevelt, Meadowlands, Foxboro and Maine. In addition to his love for Standardbreds, he always admired Percheron draft horses. Over the years, he has successfully trained several teams. He enjoys doing hayrides, weddings and other special events with them. He is also on the board of directors for the Yankee Draft Horse Association.
Heather enjoyed showing, eventing and fox hunting in her youth. She was year end champion in 1974 with the Horseman’s Paddock Association in both english and western disciplines. She trained with Kathy Connelly for over 10 years. During that time she won numerous NEDA year end awards with her Thoroughbred, Sincerely Yours through third level. She also won year end awards with Massachusetts Horseman’s Council and The West Newbury Riding and Driving Club.
In addition to riding astride, Heather was also reserve champion in the Ladies Side Saddle Division at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show in 2003. She is also a multiple-time champion of the Ladies Side Saddle Hunter Division at the Myopia Horse Show. Heather was awarded her colors with the Myopia Hunt in 2005. She led the side saddle division in the Great Circus Parade in Milwaukee, WI in July of 2001 on her husband's Percheron named Jeff. She also rode Jeff aside in President Bush’s Inaugural Parade in January 2000. She has enjoyed numerous clinics over the years with George Morris, Jayne Savoy, Jack LeGoff, Jean LucCornile, Gregg Best, Paul Valliere and several others. She is a member of USEF, Green Mountain Horse Association, West Newbury Riding and Driving Club, Liberty Side Saddle Networks, New England Aside and the Yankee Draft Horse Association.
Scott and Heather specialize in hayrides for all occasions, training and selling sport horses for driving, hunting, showing and trail riding. When time allows, we do take a select few horses in for training. On occasion we have miscellaneous items for sale to include saddles, sidesaddles, harness, carriages and sleighs. In our spare time, we enjoy restoring carriages and sleighs for our own use or resale.
